This project involved the construction of a new build development, consisting of 7 floors, offering superior accommodation to the students of Bournemouth. The hall consists of 101 studio flats, along with other shared facilities such as a ground floor café, gym, laundry, cinema, games room and bookable dining room.

The original ‘S. Peter’s Hall’ was built in 1908 by local architect HE Hawker, who was also responsible for St. Peter’s church close by. The building had been added to and changed over

It was important to local architect dot. to keep the integrity and character of the original building when creating their sympathetic new design, with the aim to limit the impact on the local street scene in line with Planning specifications and restrictions. 

many years, so there had very little of the original structure left to salvage before its demolition, which was carried out before Create Construction took over the project.

With a similar brick façade, the design incorporated the same coloured banding, stone arches and window proportions of the former hall. Additionally, an original stone feature sign above the main entrance was remade to match the previous feature lost by the original demolition contactor.

A new addition to Collegiate’s portfolio of student accommodation, Collegiate St. Peter’s Hall now sits proudly on 100% of the original site footprint and is set in a prime position, conveniently located between Bournemouth’s central beach and the thriving city centre.
