The North West construction industry celebrated the achievements of the region's best and most innovative construction projects, organisations and individuals at last night's eleventh annual awards ceremony and dinner, which was held at The Principal, Manchester. Attended by over 560 guests the event was themed 'Dolce Vita' and was a night of reward, recognition and celebration! Hosted by the University of Salford, The Centre for Construction Innovation and Constructing Excellence the night saw 20 Award winners and 10 Highly Commended finalists rewarded for their accomplishments.
Over £3,900 was raised for the supported charity on the night for the Manchester Emergency Fund.
This year, the judges saw great potential in Create Construction and awarded the team with the SME of the Year award for 2017! Judges were looking for an exemplary organisation, with 249 or less employees and with turnover less than £42 million.
SMEs are the backbone of the industry and are recognised by Constructing Excellence for their dominance of and contribution to the supply chain. Department for Business Innovation and Skills suggest that 99.9% of UK construction contracting businesses are SMEs and some of the greatest innovation and best practice can be identified in this sector.
This year the nominations for the SME of the Year award were tougher than ever:
The judges have selected the top 108 companies that they consider best represent the ethos and values of the Constructing Excellence movement to go forward to the National Constructing Excellence Awards, held in London in November this year.
This is a massive achievement for Create Construction and we look forward to the next awards ceremony.
