Create Construction and Niveda hosted a Topping Out ceremony at their Calico, Norton Street development in Liverpool on 4th March 2019, hosted by key members of the company’s management. Guests included representatives of the funding, design, construction, project delivery and subcontractor teams, as well as members of the Fresh Student Living team, the company who will operate, manage and let the facilities.
The occasion was a memorable celebration of the achievements of all concerned, as the building reaches its maximum height, with the installation of the top level. Guests were firstly taken up to the 14th floor of the building to view a breath-taking panorama of the Liverpool skyline, on what will become an impressive sky lounge for the students. Everyone then ascended to the roof to listen to speeches from Managing Director of Create Construction, Adrian Tottey and Romi Dahele, Bhavik Jayendrakumar Shahand Jas Singh Nyotta of Niveda Realty - Developers of the project. There was also an opportunity to admire the construction of the rest of the building from this amazing vantage point.
The two companies stated that they were proud to be delivering this new prestigious student accommodation project, situated close to both Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool campuses. Once complete, the newly branded Calico building will offer 738 rooms over 220,000 square feet on 2 blocks of 8, 11 & 15 storeys. The accommodation will include up-to-the-minute interior design features as well as social areas, gym, laundry and ground floor retail units.
Bhavik Jayendrakumar Shah commented: “The Topping Out ceremony was a huge success with a high turnout from those keen to see how construction is progressing and to learn about the facilities which will be on offer for students choosing to live at Calico. The journey to the top floor for the speeches was worth it for the fantastic views, which will become the students’ sky lounge area when it is complete.”
Create Construction has brought to the table their considerable experience in the delivery of high-volume accommodation – and continue to extend their pipeline of work as the company maintains its impressive growth, including a recently secured second student accommodation project for Niveda at Renshaw Hall, Benson Street, Liverpool, due for completion in August 2020.
Adrian Tottey commented: “The Calico building at Norton Street is our biggest construction project to date. It is fantastic that we have reached the Topping Out stage on this project for Niveda and Fresh. Our company values of ‘Integrity’, ‘collaborative’ and ‘easy to do business with’ has allowed us to build a significant relationship with Niveda, which I am confident will continue for many years to come.”
